Guam Delegation at the 53rd NABE Conference

The Guam Delegation takes a pose at the Hilton Riverside, New Orleans, Louisiana during the 53rd Annual National Association for Bilingual Education (NABE) Conference.  The theme of the conference is Celebrating Heritage Language and Its Role in Promoting Multilingualism, Multiliteracy, and Multiculturalism!  The conference was held March 26-30, 2024.  Pictured L-R:  Karen Alvia, Dr. Matilda Naputi Rivera,  NABE President Evelyn De Jesus, Bert Yamasta, Elmer Alves, and Barbara Tainatongo.

Dr. Rivera shared her presentation titled Fostering Language and History through Storytelling.

Jimmy Santos Teria, CHamoru Studies Administrator, shared his presentation via Zoom titled, The CHamoru Language & Culture Program's (CLCP) Role in Promoting Multilingualism, Multiliteracy and Multicuralism.

Edward Park shares his presentation titled, Wong Avery Global Languages for Elementary Students.

Condolences for the Chargualaf Family

The PIBBA family extends its deepest condolences and sympathies to the family of Joseph B. "Joe" Chargualaf, brother-in-law of PIBBA Guam member, Remy Chargualaf.  Joe left this Earth on December 28, 2023.  He will always be remembered.  God Bless him and his family.  May he rest in peace.

Publish your writing with Songsong Stories!   What can you submit? You can submit poetry, prose, or an excerpt of a larger piece along with a short bio. You may also include a photo or artwork to accompany the publication.   All pieces published in Songsong stories will also be lined up for publication in PDN's Lifestyle section or Pika magazine.   Word limit is 600-800 words for PDN.
