PIBBA Donation to Safe Haven Homeless Shelter Coordinated by Catholic Social Services

PIBBA Webmaster, Dr. Matilda Naputi Rivera, Appointed to the GPLS Board of Directors

Congratulations to PIBBA Webmaster, Dr. Matilda Naputi Rivera, for her appointment as Member (Teacher Representative) to the Board of Directors of the Guam Public Library System.  She was appointed by Maga’Håga Lou Leon Guerrero on October 22, 2020 and approved by the Committee after a Testimonial Hearing on December 1, 2020 before being confirmed by the 35th Guam Legislature during their Regular Session held December 10, 2020.

Condolences for the Mendiola Family



The PIBBA Family extends its deepest condolences and sympathies to the family of Rick Anthony Palomo Mendiola, husband of PIBBA Guam Photographer Mae Mendiola.  Rick left this Earth on November 21, 2020.  He will always be remembered. God Bless him and his family.  May he rest in peace.


Daily rosaries are being held daily from Nov. 22-29, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. (8:00 p.m. CST) via Zoom, Meeting ID: 691 692 2160.  There is no password required.  Kindly enter with cameras and mics off to conserve bandwidth and prevent audio feedback.  


The mass of intention for Rick will be at the San Vicente Catholic Church, Barrigada on Sunday, 10 a.m.; Weekdays, 6:00 p.m., & Saturday, 7:15 a.m.  Funeral information will be announced later.  Si Yu’os Ma’ase’ for keeping the Mendiola family in your prayers.

Condolences for the Salas and Palomo Families



The PIBBA family extends its deepest condolences and sympathies to the families of Jaime Salas, brother of PIBBA Guam President Rosa Salas Palomo and PIBBA Guam member Barbara Marie Salas Benavente.  Jaime left this Earth on October 26, 2020.  He was 74 years old.  

Last respects for Jaime will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Guam Memorial Funeral Home in Leyang, Barrigada.  Mass for a Christian burial will be offered at 12 noon at San Vicente Ferrer Catholic Church in Barrigada.  Interment will follow at the Guam Veterans Cemetery in Piti.  Public Health guidelines regarding the number of individuals attending, use of face masks, and social distancing will be followed and strictly enforced.

Jaime will always be remembered. God Bless him and his family.  May he rest in peace.

Congratulations to PIBBA Guam Member, Dr. Teo Cruz, for winning the UOG Distinguished Alumni Award

Congratulations to PIBBA Guam Member, Dr. Teofila "Teo" Cruz, for winning the UOG Distinguished Alumni Award!  The UOG Distinguished Alumni Awards Ceremony held November 5, 2020 via Zoom was memorable! Due to COVID-19 and PCOR1 restrictions, the event was held online and brought together over 200 participants to reconnect with fellow UOG alumni and honor 6 Distinguished UOG Alumni.  Honorable guests in attendance included Lt. Gov. Joshua Tenorio, Congressman Michael San Nicolas, and Sen. Amanda Shelton.  JEJ Vinson, a finalist on NBC's "The Voice" and our very own UOG Latte Tones sang for the special event.  The late Dr. Suzanne Bells was also remembered during the ceremony.  

The Last Mile Scholarship was further announced during the event.  It launched in October to coincide with the reunion.  It is a competitive scholarship awarded to students who are within 30 credits of completing their first bachelor's degree and in need of financial assistance.  More than $14,000 were raised through the support of corporate sponsors and UOG alumni.
