RIP Dr. Dungca

“Iokwe, raan annim, kaselehlia, alii, aloha
Olomwaay, hafa dei, tuwoh, mogethin, Talofa”
.. Chorus of the “Song of PIBBA” written by Peter R. Onedera, Music by Joey Franquez.

On behalf of the Pacific Islands Bilingual Bicultural Association – Guam Chapter                          and the International Association
I would like to extend sincere and heartfelt Condolences to the families of

+ Dr. Bernadita “Benit” Camacho-Dungca +

The islands are saddened by the untimely passing of Dr. Dungca.  An advocate and proponent of language and culture ..  the Chamoru Language and Culture.  The vast accolades attributed to her lifetime passion to promote, to perpetuate and to preserve are evident:  co-authored, along with Donald M. Topping and Pedro Ogo, the Chamorro-English Dictionary, Chamorro Reference Grammar and Spoken Chamorro; wrote the “Inifresi”; Professor at the University Of Guam’s School of Education; Consultant to the Chamorro Language Commission, initiated the Chamorro Teaching Degree Institute, to name a few.  Of the many organizations she is affiliated with, Dr. Dungca was a great supporter of PIBBA throughout her leadership as member and officer.
Dr. Dungca leaves behind a profound legacy that we all are grateful for.  As a mentor, constituent, colleague, teacher, daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, friend, she is Saina to the many lives she’s touched in one way or another.  Her wisdom, wit, laughter, guidance, smile we certainly will miss.  Thank You, Lord, for allowing her to touch our hearts in ways she did.
May Eternal Rest Grant On To Her, O Lord, And Let Perpetual Light Shine Upon Her And All The Souls Of The Faithfully Departed .. Rest In Peace.  Amen.

Theresa “EWY” Taitano – President, PIBBA Guam Chapter – 2016-2018

FESTPAC 2016

Lyrics by Peter R. Onedera
Music Arrangements by Benita Mesngon Lizama

What We Own,
What We Have,
What We Share,
United Voices of the Pacific.

Across the oceans, Pacific places,
these islands lie pride of the earth.
Rise all as one to reach the sky,
with wealth of tongues and hearts abound
We welcome all, our souls profound.

What We Own,
What We Have,
What We Share,
United Voices of the Pacific.

Art and music fill the air,
the ocean waves do declare.
Our languages and cultures, our Pacific share.
We show the world, we come together.
Our voices ring, we honor the ancestors.
Pacific harmony is what we bring.

What We Own,
What We Have,
What We Share,
United Voices of the Pacific.

This gathering of mankind to give and show
of timeless beauty who we are, our legacies bestow.
We stand as one, north and south, east and west
With spirit and pride,
Our heritage is our quest.

What We Own,
What We Have,
What We Share,
United voice of the Pacific.
United voices of the Pacific
United Voices of the Pacific!

PIBBA International President-Elect Neth Wins Re-Election

Congratulations to PIBBA International President-Elect, the Honorable Senator Dr. Shelten G. Neth, on winning the re-election for the 9th Pohnpei State Legislature during the general election held November 10, 2015. Senator Neth received the most votes with a very wide marginal lead at his election district. In the same general election and in the same election district, he was the voters’ first choice among the 4 official elected representatives. He also ran against former popular 2-term Governor John Ehsa. Kudos and God Bless, Senator Neth! We have confidence that you will continue to serve the people well.
